Perkumpulan Siberut Hijau (PASIH) is a non-governmental and community based organization, working to create sustainable natural resources management in Siberut Island. PASIH vision’s is harmony of biodiversity conservation and equitable and sustainable development on the Siberut Island. PASIH mission’s is to create the balance between development and sustainable natural resources management by considering socio-cultural values, ecological, and economic aspects in Siberut Island.
In doing so, this organization focuses its activities for capacity building, promoting and disseminating information, transferring environmental friendly technology for communities’ life sufficiently. PASIH develops and implements programs using collaborative approaches. PASIH members are expected to nurture positive partnerships in order to enhance local communities’ capacities, provide assistances to local communities and organizations, strengthen networking between non-governmental organization and professionals natural resources management and governance in the Siberut Island.
PASIH establish at April 22, 2007. PASIH is registered as a legal entity in May 24, 2007 in accordance to official document No.10 made by notary public/P.P.A.T. RISMADONA, S.H. and listed at court of first instance class I.A Padang No. 04/2007. PASIH is a transformation of a collaborative program called Kolabortif Manajemen (Co-Management) Siberut. Co-Management program was started in 2001, involving Siberut National Park Institution (BTNS), Siberut communities, Yayasan Citra Mandiri (YCM) and supported by UNESCO – Jakarta Office. Along 2001-2005, Co-Management has been successfully mediating conflicts between BTNS and Siberut communities. This program has increased the acceptance of community toward BTNS and strengthened the capacity of the program staffs to collaborate with local communities and other conservation stakeholders (district government, non-governmental organization) in Siberut.
