1. Mentawai indigenous culture experience; the daily activities of local indigenous communities are fascinating to watch and even better to participate in! Discover and interact with the local indigenous communities and maybe discover something new about yourself along the way. Indigenous cultural activities include: ritual ceremonies, making sago (musagu), hunting (murourou), spiritual dance (muturuk), canoe making (masigalai abak), building a house (masigalai lalep), blending traditional medicine (pasigalai laggek), traditional agriculture (mumone), hunting for fish in the river (paligagra), getting a traditional tattoo (mutiktik) and learning to make the infamous Mentawai poison (murakgi),

2. Forest and river cruise; The lush tropical forests of Siberut are a special attraction for visitors who love outdoors adventures and the island’s rivers wined through virgin forest. As part of the forest and river cruise you can visit caves in central Siberut or waterfalls in the south of Siberut. This package will can take you to another realm of adventure and is a great way to experience for yourself the island’s endemic wildlife.

3. Marine experience; The coral reefs along the southern and southeastern island of Siberut are another of the island’s attractions. On this coast the beaches are white, long and fringed with palm trees – perfect for swimming, fishing, snorkeling, diving or just basking in the sun. Dolphins are common companions along this coast. Other animals that live in this area include dugong and three protected species of sea turtles. The beautiful small islands off the coast are also great for exploring while the surf in this area is world famous.

4. Mangrove fringe experience: This is another more unusual but no less interesting activity is exploring the ancient mangrove forest in a canoe along the coast of southern Siberut. Boating quietly through networks of large mangrove trees, winding between the roots is an interesting experience. You can observe upclose the animal inhabitants of the mangrove forest. At low tide you can search amongst the mangrove roots for clams to cook to for dinner. A trip through Siberut’s ancient mangrove forest is a magical experience that cannot be matched.
